Society Has Reached A Stage Essay

While people were accustomed to a traditional view of marriage, they gradually came to accept that it can actually be interpreted in order to incorporate a series of other values. For example, same-sex marriage demonstrated that two people can get married regardless of their gender. While it is difficult and almost impossible to predict how marriage is going to be in the future, it is very likely that it will become more complex and that it will never return to how it once was. The future of marriage is going to be altered by a series of factors such as women's economic independence. Society will focus on designing marriage in accordance to trends, thus meaning that people are going to change their perspective on marriage depending on how they understand other matters.

3. Marriage was once the most important concept bringing people together and providing them with a series of economic and social securities. However, it gradually came to change its meaning as society directed its attention toward making the world a place where all people are equal. Marriage has practically come to be a formality for many individuals who get married, as very little changes as a result of...

Many people have the same feelings toward each-other when they are married and prenuptial contracts make it possible for them to also preserve their economic independence.
Marriage in the contemporary society represents a means for people to make their relationships official. As previously mentioned, it involves "a package of legal rights, benefits and obligations -- which include hospital visitation rights and immigration rights for the foreign spouses of citizens, among others" (Wedgood). Being a couple can be a passing concept, but being married means more and it means that an individual should be entitled to a series of rights that normal couples are unable to access. Regardless of the gender of the individuals involved, an official relationship should generally be regarded as a connection between two persons who feel that they are going to stay together for a longer period of time and who plan their future together.

Marriage should not necessarily be destroyed, as society simply needs to accept that it is a formality and that it represents a union between two persons who want to take their relationship one step further by making it official.
